Antique Persian Shiraz Khamseh Rug 7’0”x10'5” Pastoral Nomadic Art

Antique Persian Shiraz Khamseh Rug 7’0”x10'5” Pastoral Nomadic Art
Rug No. 84511
Antique Southwest Persian Shiraz rug made by nomadic Arab Khamseh tribal weavers. It has a relaxed rustic tribal charm with softly glowing natural dyes depicting a pastoral imagery of foraging chickens, peacocks, quadrupeds, and a multitude of amulets and talismans. The design is actually an endless pattern of hexagons alternating in positive and negative space. Playful, imaginative, and rooted in the old ways of living from the land. Normally this type of rug was woven in smaller scatter sizes, so this room size is a rare find. It is made with lustrous hand spun wool and it remains in remarkable condition.
