Antique Persian Luri Bakhtiari tribal rug with a softly glowing weeping willow and cypress tree (bid majnun) design. The iconic motif dates back to rugs of the 16th and 17th century which represented the legend of Majnun, a story of loyalty and unfulfilled love. The rug designs were adaptations of illustrated manuscripts. The background on this lovely rendition shows the art of variegation (abrash) in subtle bands of charcoal and steel blue. Accent colors are yellow gold, deep rust, powder blue, lime green, coffee bean, and cream.
