Antique Caucasian soumak flat weave rug with three diamond star medallions in beautiful french blue. Eight “Crivelli” stars float in between the diamonds. Ancient motifs twinkle in the margins, including endless knots, pinwheels, arrowheads, small animals, rosettes, and more. The pale yellow border is a rare find on antique soumak rugs. Nice age patina.

Materials: Hand woven in soumak technique using handspun wool on a wool foundation.
Condition: Good condition over most of the rug. One end has some strong wear and distressing as shown. Scattered imperfections and signs of age and use. Please look closely at the photos. The rug is strong and suitable for normal floor use. Ready to enjoy.
