Antique Ziegler Mahal Sultanabad rug with extravagant large scale botanical artwork in an array of colors that can only be described as magnificent. The background is a lustrous navy blue with the stylized floral motifs in resplendent tones of caramel, chartreuse, cerulean blue, pale sky blue, green pepper, cardinal red, lemon yellow, gold, and cream. Rugs like this are rarely seen or found, and while we generally look for more pristine condition, we could not pass this by.

Age: 1890-1900

Origin: Mahal/Arak (Sultanabad), Markazi Province Western Iran

Materials: Hand knotted hand spun wool pile on a cotton foundation. Natural dyes.

Condition: Good, but well used condition overall with lustrous low pile and areas of strong wear. Even with the wear, the rug is extremely impressive and shows beautifully. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.
