Antique Heriz rug featuring a very rare design of four stylized dragons in cream with serpentine bodies covered in polychrome scales on a rich cardinal red ground. In an even more unusual twist, the weaver has chosen to frame the central design with an extra wide border in shimmering cerulean blue. Large blossoms and acanthus leaves are arranged in the margins with pops of seafoam, teal, coral, navy blue, pastel pink, maroon, pale gold, tan, and more. Perhaps these playful dragons will share their storied mythology and legend one quiet evening in your home.

Materials: Hand knotted handspun wool pile on a cotton foundation. Natural dyes.
Condition: Good condition overall with lustrous low pile over roughly 2/3 of the rug and the balance showing stronger wear. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.
