Antique Heriz Bakshaish Rug 9'1"x12'2" One of a Kind Floor Art

Antique Heriz Bakshaish Rug 9'1"x12'2" One of a Kind Floor Art
Rug No. 171535
Antique Heriz Bakshaish rug with extravagant botanical artwork in a masterful expression of color. Highly stylized acanthus leaves and large geometric blossoms imply the formal quadrant garden plans popular with the ruling families of 16th through 18th century India and Persia. Where the original works were finely detailed figural representations, this example has morphed into a bold statement of the late 19th and early 20th century art styles. To bring this dramatic artwork to full bloom, the weavers and wool dyers had the amplifier cranked and the harmonies sweet. It’s kind of like this fantastic surreal place that you won’t want to leave. Too many fabulous colors to name, but the ground is a rusty vermilion red, the border and some of the central elements verge from charcoal to charcoal blue, with the motifs in perfectly distributed accents of delicious green, coral, salmon, Persian blue, pale gold, bone white, etc...
