Antique Bakhtiari or possibly Kurdish runner with a lovely and refreshingly rustic rendition of the tree of life motif. Seven pairs of birds forage among a column of flowering trees or shrubs. The playful carefree artwork and twinkling naturally dyed colors create a charmed effect beckoning the viewer to an essential harmonious place. The chocolate brown wool ground is a rare find with its rich luxurious depth. The birds and botanical elements are represented in jade green, rose pink, teal green, buff, straw yellow, cerise, marine blue, and walnut brown. The simplicity and freedom that the nomadic weavers were able to convey here is fresh and inviting even in its old age,

Materials: Hand knotted handspun wool pile on a wool and cotton foundation. Natural dyes.
Condition: Good condition overall with lustrous low pile over most of the rug. There are some scattered lightly worn areas and also two small restorations. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.
