Antique Heriz rug with a rare design and stunning colors. This archaic motif may have its origins in the old dragon rugs of the Caucasus and it may also be a stylized interpretation of the Safavid and Mughal water garden rugs. Regardless of the origins, the effect is shimmering and transformative. The floating central ground is a rich madder red with a midnight blue medallion and border, and accents in pale lemon yellow, sea green, coral pink, pale blue, pale aqua, pale pistachio green, salmon, cream, and walnut. This 120 year old Heriz has a lovely patina and is ready to enjoy.
