Vintage Azerbaijan dragon design rug in a shimmering pale toned color palette. The design is adapted from a group of 18th century rugs woven in Caucasian Azerbaijan that depict large scale stylized dragons that blend animal and botanical characteristics. This particular rendition excels in its use of color with a pale steel blue ground, pale butter yellow border, and a glowing vermilion burnt orange. Accent colors include burgundy, pale seafoam, pale salmon, dusty eggplant, buttercream, and white. This finely hand knotted lustrous wool rug has an in-woven date of 1980 and is in as new condition. A very handsome and rare find!
